Family Slams Media Over Nicola Bulley Tragedy

The heartbreaking discovery of Nicola Bulley’s body has sparked fury from her family, who have slammed some mainstream media outlets for invading their privacy during an already devastating time.

Nicola’s Body Found in River Wyre

On February 20th, Lancashire Police confirmed they recovered Nicola’s body from the River Wyre. The 45-year-old went missing after a riverside walk with her dog on January 27.

A police spokesperson said:

“Unfortunately, we can now confirm that we recovered Nicola Bulley from the River Wyre yesterday. Nicola’s family has been notified and they are understandably devastated. Our thoughts are with them, her loved ones, and the wider community.”

“We thank everyone who assisted during this complex investigation. While today’s news is tragic, we hope it brings some answers for those closest to Nicola. The HM Coroner now leads the case.”

Family Pays Tribute Amid Media Storm

In a heartfelt statement, Nicola’s family remembered her as “the centre of our world” and vowed to support her two young daughters.

But they also condemned the “appalling” behaviour of some journalists and media outlets, accusing them of causing added stress and anxiety with intrusive practices.

A family spokesperson said:

“Today, our Family Liaison officers had to confirm our worst fears. We will never understand what Nikki went through in her final moments, and that pain will never leave us.”

“Nikki was the centre of our universe. Nothing will ever change the special place she holds in our lives.”

“Our girls will get the help they need from those who love them most.”

“It saddens us we’ll have to explain how the press accused their father of wrongdoing and vilified friends and family. This behaviour is unacceptable and must be held accountable.”

“Despite asking for privacy, Sky News and ITV contacted us directly and ran stories to boost their own profiles. It’s a disgrace—please, leave us alone.”

“We thank everyone who has supported us privately, especially the St Michael’s community. Your kindness has been heartwarming.”

“Nikki, you are no longer missing. We love you and will always love you. We’ll take it from here.”

Media Under Fire for Handling of Case

Both Sky News and ITV News face backlash from emergency services and the public for what many see as unfair criticism of Lancashire Police during the search for Nicola.

The family’s plea is clear: respect their privacy and let them mourn in peace.
