Skydiver Airlifted to London Hospital After Crash Landing at Headcorn
A daring skydiver was rushed to King’s College Hospital after a nasty leg injury during a parachute landing at Headcorn Aerodrome on Saturday afternoon (13 July).
Injury After 1,333 Jumps
Jane Buckle, manager at Go Skydive Headcorn, revealed the veteran jumper had completed an impressive 1,333 jumps before the accident.
She and the rescue team provided first aid at the scene until paramedics arrived.
Rapid Emergency Response
The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance swooped in after the South East Coast Ambulance Service received the emergency call shortly after 1pm.
“We were called shortly after 1pm on Saturday to reports of a person requiring medical attention following a parachute landing at Headcorn Aerodrome,” a spokesperson confirmed.
“Crews assessed and treated one patient at the scene for leg injuries before being joined by the air ambulance.”
The seriously injured skydiver was airlifted from the scene for urgent treatment in London.
No Danger to Others – Flights Resume
The jumper was an experienced recreational skydiver, and thankfully, no one else at the airfield was put at risk.
Headcorn Aerodrome has since resumed normal operations with no disruptions.
