Heroic Lifeboat Rescue from No Man’s Land Fort

The RNLI lifeboat Alfred Albert Williams sprang into action in the early hours of Tuesday 12 June. At 2.45am, the Tamar All-Weather Lifeboat (16-17) was launched after a 32-year-old staff member fell into the water off No Man’s Land Fort.

Swift Rescue Operation

The coastguard alerted the crew, who arrived at the Fort just seven minutes later at 2.52am. Two crew members were sent ashore carrying a stretcher. The injured man, suspected of having a broken rib, was quickly placed on board the lifeboat.

Safe Transfer to Portsmouth Hospital

The lifeboat set off for Portsmouth at 3.30am and docked alongside the Camber at 3.50am. The casualty was handed over to the Ambulance Service without delay. The Alfred Albert Williams then made its way back to Bembridge, arriving by 5am.
