Damilola Fatuga, 19, jailed for brutal Bromley South station attack
Knife rampage over unpaid ticket sparks chaos
Damilola Fatuga lashed out when challenged for dodging the ticket barrier at Bromley South station. The furious teen punched a revenue protection officer repeatedly, knocking out his front tooth. Two more staff rushed to help — only to be viciously attacked.
- One worker was punched in the eye.
- The other was stabbed multiple times in the arm, thigh, and stomach.
Miraculously, the stabbing victim survived with non-life-threatening injuries. A fourth member of staff kicked the knife out of Fatuga’s hand before he was arrested on the spot.
Guilty verdict lands Fatuga behind bars
The violent incident happened shortly before 12:45pm on Monday, 21 May 2021. On Tuesday 15 November, Fatuga was found guilty of grievous bodily harm with intent at Croydon Crown Court over the stabbing.
He had already admitted to assaulting other staff members and possessing a knife. The Blackheath resident is set for sentencing on Friday 10 February 2023.
Police vow to protect frontline railway workers
“This was a shocking and disturbing attack on members of staff who were attempting to do their job. It’s very fortunate the stabbing victim did not suffer life-threatening injuries, but it could’ve easily gone the other way,” said Superintendent Darren Malpas of British Transport Police.
“Our rail staff deserve to work without fear of violence. We’ll ensure anyone who threatens that safety faces justice.”
