Tragedy on Pollard Street: Man Dead, Another Injured in Ancoats
At around 6.30pm on Wednesday 20 April 2022, police rushed to Pollard Street in Ancoats after ambulance crews flagged an emergency. Two men had been hurt in a serious incident.
One Man Dies at Scene, Another Hospitalised
Officers found one man, believed to be in his 20s, tragically dead at the scene. His next of kin have been notified. Another man, also in his 20s, sustained leg injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dash Cam Footage
Detective Chief Inspector Wes Knights of GMP’s Major Incident Team said: “I send our condolences to the loved ones of the man who’s sadly died and wish a full recovery to the man in hospital. Specially trained officers are supporting both families.”
“We are in the early stages of our investigation but are carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances. Expect a heavy police presence in Ancoats in the coming days.”
