Massive Search Underway for Missing DFDS Ferry Passenger off Tyneside

A major search and rescue operation is in full swing off the coast of Tyneside after a passenger vanished from a DFDS ferry.

Passenger Goes Missing Mid-Voyage

The UK Coastguard was alerted after a man in his 60s disappeared from a ferry travelling from the Netherlands to North Shields around 12:15pm. The dramatic incident sparked an urgent response.

Herculean Effort from Rescue Teams

More than 30 RNLI volunteers from six stations – Filey, Scarborough, Whitby, Hartlepool, Tynemouth, and Blyth – have joined the hunt. The Humberside-based Coastguard search and rescue helicopter is combing the area from the skies.

All Hands on Deck as Mayday Broadcast Issued

HM Coastguard issued a Mayday relay to alert all nearby vessels. Northumbria Police are also involved in the ongoing search. So far, no sign of the missing man has been found.
