Just before 8pm tonight, fire crews raced to a raging barn fire on Painters Road, Ilford. Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters battled the inferno that quickly swallowed the entire hay barn.
Horses Rescued from Flames
Thankfully, the brave fire teams helped the barn owners lead three horses to safety. None of the animals was hurt despite the ferocious fire.
Road Closures and Ongoing Fight
Station Commander Stephen Irvine, who is at the scene, warned: “Hainault Road is closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible. This is expected to be a protracted incident and crews will be at the scene of the fire throughout the evening.”
The cause of the blaze is still unknown as firefighters continue their relentless efforts to bring it under control.
