Sex Offender Skips Sentence, Police Launch Manhunt
Husayin Simsek, 50, convicted of repeatedly abusing a young boy, has vanished ahead of his sentencing hearing. The Edinburgh Sheriff Court found him guilty last December of multiple sexual offences dating from 2020 to 2023. He was due in court on 20 January but failed to show.

Police are particularly keen to locate the white BMW linked to Simsek, which could be key in their investigation.
Police Appeal: Do Not Approach
Inspector Ross Nicol urged the public: “If you’ve seen Husayin Simsek or know where he is, do not approach him. Instead, call Police Scotland on 101 immediately, quoting incident number 3339 of Friday, 29 January, 2026.”
Simsek was last spotted at around 8pm on Sunday, 18 January near Dalry Road, Edinburgh. Authorities warn anyone with information to come forward without delay.
