Hastings Preps for Packed May Day Bank Holiday Bike Bash
Hastings is buzzing ahead of the traditional May Day bank holiday bike run tomorrow, 1 May. While the formal ‘Bike1066’ event won’t roll this year, bikers are still set to flood the town for the annual celebration.
Plenty of Parking but No Roadside Clutter
The council has announced designated bike parking spots at Pelham Place car park on the seafront and the Stade open space in the Old Town. It’s a clear message: park your bike where you’re told, not on roads or pavements.
“Past events have seen emergency vehicles delayed and wheelchairs struggling to get past bikes dumped on pavements,” said Hastings Borough Council. “We urge all to park responsibly and keep the town accessible.”
Car Park Plans for Riders and Spectators
- Bikers: Use Pelham Place and Stade parking only.
- Drivers: Priory Street, Carlisle Parade, and Priory Meadow car parks are open.
- Warning: Move cars out of Pelham Place before 1 May to make way for bikes.
Hastings Borough Council is calling on everyone—bikers, spectators, and visitors—to keep the event safe, smooth, and enjoyable for all.
