Britain’s New Anti-Drone Weapon Smashes First Trials – Costs Pennies Per Shot!
Radio Frequency Weapon Takes Down Drone Swarms
The UK’s latest military marvel, the Radio Frequency Directed Energy Weapon (RFDEW), has smashed its debut operational trials. This next-gen tech zaps hostile drone swarms using powerful radio waves with jaw-dropping precision — and all for less than the price of a mince pie per blast.
Lightning Fast and Deadly Precise
RFDEW packs a punch with a range of up to 1km and near-instant firing speed. It detects, tracks, and disables threats across the battlefield in seconds. Each engagement costs a tiny 10p, making it a game-changer in affordable defence tech.
Radio Waves, Not Lasers – Smarter Defence
Unlike traditional laser weapons like DragonFire, RFDEW uses radio frequency energy to knock out hostile electronics instantly. The system disrupts vital components inside enemy drones, taking them out mid-flight without risking explosive damage.
Homegrown Tech Powers UK Jobs and Innovation
The RFDEW project is led by Thales UK with industry giants QinetiQ, Teledyne e2v, and Horiba Mira on board. Together, they support over 135 expert jobs nationwide, showcasing Britain’s drive to boost defence tech and keep innovation at home.
Maria Eagle MP, Minister for Defence Procurement and Industry, hailed the success: “The successful firing represents a crucial milestone in developing a game-changing sovereign weapon for the UK.”
