Massive Straw Bale Blaze Sends Thick Smoke Over Wye

Residents near Olantigh Road in Wye are being urged to keep windows and doors shut as firefighters battle a huge straw bale inferno pumping out dense smoke.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service rushed two fire engines to the scene at around 4:16pm on Monday. Crews are battling the blaze using high-pressure hose reel jets to bring the fire under control.

The fire involves a large stack of straw bales, which continue to smoulder, producing thick smoke that could be hazardous for locals.

Urgent Public Safety Warning

“Due to the large amount of smoke in the area, we are asking residents to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution. Please share this advice with any friends or relatives who may not have access to the internet,” fire officials warned.

So far, no injuries have been reported. Firefighters remain on site, working tirelessly to douse the flames.
