Teen Jailed for Hackney Stabbing Death

A 17-year-old boy has been found guilty of manslaughter after the fatal stabbing of fellow teen Nathan Bawuah in East London. The convicted youth, who cannot be named due to his age, was convicted at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday, November 29. He had earlier admitted to carrying an offensive weapon.

Fatal Attack on Hackney Road

Nathan Bawuah, 17, was stabbed to death just before 11pm on Saturday, February 17, on Hackney Road, E2. Despite the swift arrival of London Ambulance Service and emergency crews, Nathan was pronounced dead at the scene.

His devastated family have since been supported by specialist police officers.

Knife Crime Investigation Uncovers Machete Attack

Police launched a full investigation, piecing together CCTV footage and forensic evidence. The findings revealed the teen killer biked to the scene armed with a large machete. He confronted Nathan and delivered a fatal stab wound to his chest.

When questioned, the youth gave no comment but later submitted a prepared statement claiming self-defence. However, he was charged with murder on February 21.

Conviction and Sentencing

Though initially charged with murder, the court found the boy guilty of manslaughter. He is set to be sentenced on January 24, 2025, at Inner London Crown Court.
