Fire chiefs are calling it an accident, blaming the blaze on a faulty lithium battery. These batteries, packed with energy in a tiny space, can easily overheat and ignite if not handled properly.
Fire Brigade Issues Urgent Safety Warning
“Lithium batteries should never go into regular bins with your rubbish or recycling,” warned a Fire Brigade spokesperson. “If they overheat, they can trigger fires.”

Quick Response from Multiple Fire Stations
The Brigade was alerted at 12:46am and brought the inferno under control by 3:32am. Crews from Wandsworth, Battersea, Fulham, Chelsea, and Tooting joined the fight against the flames.
