Storm Éowyn Leaves 1,245 Still in the Dark as SP Manweb Battles to Restore Power

More than 21,000 homes hit by Storm Éowyn’s fierce winds are back online, but 1,245 customers remain without power across North Wales and surrounding areas. SP Manweb engineers are working round the clock to fix the last outages caused by one of the toughest storms in decades.

Storm Chaos in North Wales Leaves Widespread Damage

Storm Éowyn swept through the UK, bringing down trees and debris that smashed into electricity networks, especially in North Wales. The brutal gusts caused major disruption, knocking out power for thousands and forcing road closures that slowed repair crews.

“Our engineers have worked tirelessly throughout the course of today to restore power to as many households as safely possible across the region,” said Liam O’Sullivan, Distribution Director at SP Energy Networks Manweb.

“The storm brought fallen trees and debris onto many parts of our network, and road closures hampered some of our efforts to get power restored in challenging conditions.”

Power Restoration Continues – Support for Vulnerable Customers

SP Energy Networks has contacted vulnerable residents on the Priority Services Register and offered alternative accommodation to those still without power overnight. Efforts will continue through the night with hopes to restore power to most by tomorrow morning.

O’Sullivan added, “We invest billions to ensure our network is safe, reliable, and resilient. However, extreme weather conditions like Storm Éowyn’s strong winds increase the chance of power cuts.”
