Salmonella Scare! Ferrero Kinder Products Recalled Across UK
A salmonella outbreak linked to certain Ferrero Kinder products has sparked a major product recall across the UK. Young children have been among those affected, raising alarm among parents nationwide.
Public Health Teams Launch Urgent Investigation
UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), Public Health Scotland, and counterparts in Wales and Northern Ireland have traced a cluster of salmonella poisoning cases back to a specific Kinder product made at one Ferrero factory. Other Kinder products are currently deemed safe.
Ferrero has responded swiftly, pulling the suspected items from shelves and issuing an immediate recall while investigations continue.
Parents Warn: Keep Kinder Items Out of Reach
- Children should avoid all recalled Kinder products.
- Parents and guardians are urged to check their homes for affected items.
- Follow official advice to prevent further illnesses.
Salmonellosis symptoms include diarrhoea, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, and fever. Most recover in a few days, but severe cases can lead to hospitalization—especially among the very young and those with weak immune systems.
Experts Speak Out on the Recall
Tina Potter, FSA Head of Incidents: “We welcome Ferrero’s precautionary recall and advise consumers not to eat any products on the FSA alert. These are popular with young children, especially with Easter approaching, so parents must check their cupboards.”
Dr Lesley Larkin, UKHSA Surveillance Lead: “We are working closely with Ferrero and public health bodies to minimise risk. Anyone with symptoms should contact their GP or call NHS 111. Salmonella can spread person to person, so good hygiene is critical.”
Keep an eye on all Kinder products at home and stay tuned for updates as the investigation unfolds.
