Yellow Thunderstorm Warning Hits Southern UK Tonight
A yellow thunderstorm warning is in force from midnight to 10 a.m. on Saturday as warm air surges up from Europe. This raises the chances of thunderstorms across southern counties.
Heavy Rain and Lightning Strikes Expected
Met Office Chief Meteorologist Andy Page warned: “Many places within the warning zone might not see a single thunderstorm. But where storms do hit, expect heavy rain and frequent lightning.”
He added, “Some areas could get 20-30mm of rain in just one hour, with the south coast possibly facing 50mm over two to three hours.”
Storm Risk May Rise Again on Sunday
The thunderstorm threat eases by Saturday morning. But the warm air pushing north means more storms and downpours could strike on Sunday. Officials say they’re watching the situation closely and may issue fresh warnings if needed.
