Third Trump Assassination Attempt Foiled at Coachella Valley Rally
Chaos was averted on Saturday, October 12, 2024, when Riverside County authorities stopped what looked like the third assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. The dramatic thwarting happened just half a mile from Trump’s Coachella Valley rally.
Suspect Caught at Checkpoint Armed to the Teeth
Deputies halted a black SUV near Avenue 52 and Celebration Drive, where they found 49-year-old Las Vegas resident Vem Miller armed with a shotgun, a loaded handgun, and a high-capacity magazine. Shockingly, Miller also had fake passes designed to sneak past rally security.
Thanks to swift law enforcement action, disaster was narrowly avoided. Miller was arrested without a fight and is now locked up at the John J. Benoit Detention Center facing charges of illegal firearms possession.
Safety of Trump and Crowd Unharmed
Officials confirmed the incident did not threaten Trump or the rally-goers. The investigation continues, with authorities urging anyone with info to contact Deputy Coronado at Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station on (760) 836-1600.
Rising Security Fears Ahead of 2024 Elections
This shocking attempt is the latest in a string of threats against high-profile political figures as the 2024 elections approach, fueling concerns about the safety of candidates on the campaign trail.
