Two women have been charged with the murder of Helen Bloomfield, aged 52, in Braintree, Essex.
Mystery Surrounds Helen’s Death
Helen Bloomfield was found dead at her home on Aetheric Road on 19 April 2024. Initially, her death was treated as unexpected, but further investigations raised suspicions. Detective Chief Inspector Greg Wood, leading the inquiry, revealed that Helen was discovered in unusual circumstances and believed to have been dead for several weeks before being found.
Serious Crime Directorate Cracks the Case
After two years of painstaking investigation by Essex Police’s Serious Crime Directorate, the Crown Prosecution Service has authorised charges against two women for Helen’s murder.
“Helen was found in unusual circumstances, and we believe that she had been dead for several weeks,” said Detective Chief Inspector Wood. “Over the last two years investigators have carefully considered the evidence and have now been given the authority by the Crown Prosecution Service to charge two people with Helen’s murder. Our thoughts remain with Helen’s family who have endured an incredibly difficult two years following her death.”
Police Appeal Ends Lengthy Wait for Justice
The charges bring fresh hope to Helen’s grieving family after a long, painful wait for answers. Essex Police continue to appeal for anyone with information about the case to come forward.
