Tragic Death of Young Girl in Watling Street Crash
A little girl died after a horror collision on Watling Street, near Meadow Way, just outside London. The accident happened shortly after 6.50pm on Saturday 10 July. She was rushed to a London hospital but sadly passed away on Sunday evening, moments before the England football kick-off.
Local Tributes Pour In for Lilly Lockwood
Locals have left flowers, cards, and drawings at the spot where the girl, named Lilly Lockwood, was struck by the car. Heartbroken neighbours described Lilly as a popular child whose life was cut tragically short.
Flip-Flop Mishap Leads to Fatal Collision
Reports say Lilly was wearing flip-flops and lost one while walking. She stepped back onto the road to retrieve it when the crash happened. Firefighters from a nearby station desperately tried to save her as neighbours called for an ambulance.
The impact threw Lilly a considerable distance from where she was hit. An auntie paying tribute said the community is devastated. Residents have long complained about speeding on the road, with some cars reportedly racing through at 60mph. Calls for a speed camera are growing louder. “Something has got to be done,” locals said.
Driver Arrested and Bailed
A man in his 50s driving a yellow Audi S1 was arrested before Lilly’s death on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving while impaired. He has been granted bail until Tuesday 3 August.
