Woman Found Dead at Isle of Wight Festival Campsite
A woman in her 40s was found dead at a campsite during the Isle of Wight Festival, police confirmed. The shocking discovery came the same day a fire broke out on site, though officials say the two incidents are not connected.
Emergency Services Respond Following Sudden Death
Officers rushed to the scene just before 11am yesterday after reports of a “sudden death” at the festival’s campsite. A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesman said:
“We were called at 10.51am on 20/6 to a report of a sudden death in the campsite of Isle of Wight Festival. A woman in her 40s has been confirmed as deceased and her family are aware. This is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Festival Issues Condolences; Fire Quickly Contained
The festival organisers expressed their sorrow, stating: “The team at the Isle of Wight Festival are deeply saddened by the passing of a festivalgoer on Thursday morning. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with her family and friends.”
Earlier that same day, a fire erupted on the site, sending thick black smoke into the air. Thankfully, the blaze was swiftly controlled and extinguished by the festival’s own fire and rescue service. No injuries were reported.
