The National Crime Agency (NCA) has issued a stark warning: eight of the UK’s most wanted men could be lurking in the capital. These fugitives face charges ranging from murder and drug smuggling to massive frauds. Meet the Fugitives on the Run
- Timur Mehmet: From Winchmore Hill, Enfield, Mehmet was part of a massive £37.5 million money laundering ring. Sentenced to eight years in absentia back in 2007, he’s still at large.
- John Barton: Convicted in 2003 for plotting to import a haul of heroin into the UK, Barton has evaded capture for nearly 20 years. He’s believed to have connections in both London and Fuengirola, Spain.
- Jack Mayle: A Croydon native, Mayle is wanted for supplying MDMA, methylphenidate, and diazepam. After running a drugs operation across south London and Surrey, he vanished when charged.
- Ersin Mustafa: Once employed by JP Morgan Cazenove, Mustafa is suspected of insider dealing. He allegedly tipped off buyers on mergers and acquisitions to rake in illegal profits.
- Daniel Dugic: Serbian-born Dugic is linked to a 2011 cocaine smuggling plot. While others faced conviction, Dugic slipped through the cracks.
- Christakis Philippou: Also known as Christakis Chrysostomou, he allegedly ran a fraudulent travel scheme between 2004 and 2006, leaving thousands of holidaymakers out of pocket and stranded.
- Ozgur Demir and Osman Aydeniz: These two are wanted for conspiracy to supply almost 18kg of diamorphine. Several accomplices have already been jailed.
