The National Crime Agency (NCA) has announced that seven of the UK’s most wanted men may be hiding in London. The NCA, which leads the UK’s fight against serious and organized crime, often handles cases that cross-regional and international borders. Out of the 22 people on their most wanted list, seven have connections to the capital.
Here are their names, faces, and stories. The NCA has urged the public not to approach any of these individuals and to call 999 in an emergency.
Jack Mayle
Jack Mayle is wanted on suspicion of supplying MDMA, diazepam, and methylphenidate (a pharmaceutical drug). He allegedly ran a drugs line in south London and Surrey called Flavour Quest. After being charged, Mayle fled. He was born in Croydon and has a distinctive tattoo reading ‘Croydon’ on his left forearm, a diamond tattoo under his left eye, and “money never sleeps” on his left hand. Mayle is around 30 years old, 5ft 11in tall, has a muscular build and is known to carry weapons. He is also a regular gym-goer and vegan.
Ozgur Demir and Osman Aydeniz
Ozgur Demir and Osman Aydeniz are wanted in connection with a conspiracy to supply 17.83kg of diamorphine. Three people have already been convicted in connection with this offence. Both Demir and Aydeniz are Turkish nationals. The NCA has asked anyone who knows their whereabouts to get in touch.
Christakis Philippou
Christakis Philippou, also known as Christakis Chrysostomou, is involved in a travel fraud scheme. Between 2004 and 2006, he and his co-defendants set up travel agency businesses to commit fraud. They attracted customers with cut-price holidays, but the agencies ceased trading, leaving around 20,000 customers without a holiday. Philippou believed to be in London, is around 165cm tall, with grey receding hair and tan skin.
Ersin Mustafa
Ersin Mustafa is suspected of insider dealing. As a former employee of JP Morgan Cazenove’s London branch between 2006 and 2008, he allegedly obtained information about future acquisitions and mergers, which was provided to others who then traded using this information. The group made approximately £2.5 million. Mustafa was arrested by the City of London Police in 2008 but has not been seen since fleeing the UK in December 2009. The NCA believes he could be in London and describes him as around 165cm tall, of stocky build, with dark hair and tanned skin.
Daniel Dugic
Daniel Dugic is suspected of being involved in a plot to import 255 kilos of cocaine into the UK in 2011. The conspiracy involved a small UK vessel meeting a commercial container ship in the English Channel to transfer the drugs. Although Dugic was not on board either vessel, he is alleged to have organized the importation. Several other individuals were convicted of the crime, but Dugic was never brought to justice. Originally from Serbia, he is thought to be in London.
John Barton
John Barton was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2003 for conspiring to import a commercial amount of heroin into the UK. The sentencing took place in his absence, and Barton has never faced justice. The crimes occurred between 1999 and 2000. He is believed to have links to Fuengirola in Spain as well as London.
