A tragic crash in central Swindon has claimed the life of a man after he reportedly suffered a medical episode behind the wheel.
Skoda Crashes and Flips on Station Road
Emergency services were scrambled to Station Road at around 10.30pm on Friday, 21 November, after a single-vehicle smash. The driver’s Skoda ploughed into a fence before flipping over, causing chaos and prompting fire crews and paramedics to flood the scene.
Driver Dies at Scene Following Medical Emergency
The 52-year-old man was treated by paramedics on-site but was sadly pronounced dead just afterwards. It’s believed he suffered a medical episode while driving, triggering the horrific crash.
Road Closure and Official Police Statement
Station Road remained shut for several hours as emergency teams and council workers cleared the wreckage and fixed damaged street furniture. Wiltshire Police confirmed the death but stressed no suspicious circumstances surround the collision.
“Our thoughts are with the man’s family at this difficult time,” a police spokesperson said. “The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and Station Road has now reopened.”
