Blaze Breaks Out at Eastleigh Garage in the Early Hours
Firefighters raced to a commercial garage fire on Woodside Avenue, Eastleigh, at 3am on 31 January. Six fire engines and support vehicles poured in from Eastleigh, St Mary’s, Portchester, Hightown, and Redbridge fire stations, arriving to find thick smoke and flames billowing out.
Vehicles and Workshop Hit by Flames and Smoke
The fire involved two vehicles directly, but smoke damaged a further six cars and the workshop building itself. Fire crews accessed neighbouring units at Channon Retail Park to clear lingering smoke and prevent the fire spreading.
Firefighters Battle Flames With Full Force
The blaze was knocked down using six breathing apparatus sets, three jets, and tactical ventilation. Crews acted fast to secure acetylene cylinders on site—known to be extremely hazardous during fires.
“It’s vital businesses understand the risks acetylene cylinders pose in a fire,” fire officials warned.
This dramatic early morning blaze serves as a sharp reminder about the dangers lurking in commercial premises. Stay alert, stay safe.
