Brutal boyfriend from Hawkhurst locked up for savage abuse

A controlling thug from Hawkhurst has been jailed for over two years after tormenting his girlfriend with horrific violence — including pushing her head into scalding hot cooking oil.

Horrific abuse lasted months

Freddie McPherson, 21, of Rye Road, Hawkhurst, unleashed a reign of terror from August 2018 to May 2019. His shocking assault included choking his victim unconscious, beating her with a metal chair, and stamping on her.

He also trapped her in their home, stopping her from seeking help. Paranoid and possessive, he demanded access to her phone in jealous rages and bombarded her with cruel insults — even urging her to take her own life.

Guilty plea brings justice

The abuse was reported to Kent Police in May 2019. McPherson was swiftly arrested and faced Maidstone Crown Court, where he admitted to controlling behaviour and multiple assaults.

On 5 November 2019, the court sentenced him to two years and three months in prison, plus a 10-year restraining order.

Victim praised for bravery

“McPherson continuously abused, isolated and tormented his victim during the vast majority of their relationship,” said PC Ian Loft from the West Kent Vulnerable Investigation Team.

“His violent and degrading behaviour sometimes took place in front of a young child. He shows no shame for his actions.”

“I commend the victim for her courage in coming forward. Victims aren’t to blame and help is available,” added PC Loft.
