Violent Arrest After Police Sting
Officers from Central South CID caught Bassey in Brimmington Park, SE15, on 18 February thanks to a proactive operation linking the offences. During the arrest, the thug turned violent, injuring several officers. One cop suffered a nasty head cut and ligament damage to her hand.
“Bassey targeted vulnerable, lone women for his own sexual gratification, striking fear into his victims,” said Detective Constable Sandy Peters, South Area Command Unit.
“I thank the brave victims who came forward and my injured colleagues who helped bring him to justice. There may be more victims who haven’t spoke up yet.”
