Double Stabbing Shock in Warwickshire: Two Men Found Guilty
Two men have been convicted for a brutal double stabbing in Brownsover last year after a Warwickshire Police probe.
Violent Clash Outside Flats
Clifford Kessna, 46, from Pickard Close, Rugby, and Jovan Sleem, 37, with no fixed address in Rugby, appeared at Warwick Crown Court on Tuesday 11 May.
The attack happened around 3pm on 11 June 2020 outside flats on Skiddaw, Rugby. A violent fight erupted, leaving two men aged 43 and 39 with serious stab wounds.
- One victim was stabbed in the chest.
- The other suffered multiple stab wounds to his leg.
Both men survived and have since recovered.
Guilty Verdicts After Three-Week Trial
Kessna and Sleem were arrested within days of the stabbing and charged. The investigation revealed the fight stemmed from a dispute, with Sleem staying at the flats at the time.
After a three-week court battle, the jury found them guilty of serious offences:
- Kessna: Section 18 GBH and affray
- Sleem: Section 18 GBH, attempted murder, affray
Sleem also admitted possession of an offensive weapon linked to the attack.
Knife Crime Warning from Police
Sentencing is set for 7 June.
“This incident took place in broad daylight in a residential area on a summer’s day, and caused considerable injuries to the two men who were stabbed,” said Detective Constable Kate Skyrme from Rugby CID.
“Thanks to the swift actions of officers and West Midlands Ambulance Service medics, both victims survived and have recovered.”
