Teen Burned After Driver Flicks Lit Cigarette at Him in Road Rage Row
A shocking incident unfolded on Thursday, 16 September 2021, at the busy roundabout where Walderslade Road meets Princes Avenue.
Just after 8am, a 13-year-old boy was crossing the road with friends when a car allegedly clipped his ankle.
Angry Driver Confronts Boy, Flicks Cigarette
The car stopped, and the driver – believed to be a man in a small vehicle heading towards Wayfield – apparently got out and verbally abused the youngster. In a brazen act, he then flicked a lit cigarette at the boy.
Thankfully, the boy escaped injury from the collision but received a burn on his hand from the cigarette.
Police Hunting Driver, Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
“We do not have a description of the driver yet,” said PC Scott Bittlestone. “But we are examining CCTV footage and urgently want to speak to anyone who witnessed the clash at the roundabout and hasn’t contacted us.”
Officers are also calling on drivers with dashcams in the area to check their footage for clues.
