Major Fire Response Blocks Barking Road
Barking Road remains shut both ways while crews battle the blaze near Rathbone Market. Firefighters scrambled just after 2am, bringing in a specialist aerial ladder to reach the third-floor apartment engulfed in smoke.
Lightning-Fast Action Keeps Damage Limited
- Firefighters used two hose reels and a jet to douse the flames on the balcony.
- Thermal imaging cameras checked for hidden hotspots behind the cladding.
- Damage was restricted mostly to the third floor, with some water damage noted below.
- Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Investigation Underway Into Fire’s Cause
London Fire Brigade (LFB) investigators are probing the blaze’s origins, which is believed to have started behind cladding on the high-rise. The LFB received multiple calls reporting the burning balcony.
“Quick response and expert firefighting efforts prevented this fire from spreading further,” said an LFB spokesperson. The Brigade has been approached for more comments.
