Tragedy at Gosport Marina: Body of 64-Year-Old Man Found in Water

Emergency Called to Haslar Marina

At 10am on Monday, HM Coastguard received a 999 call reporting an incident at Haslar Marina on Haslar Road, Gosport. Rescue crews from Hillhead, Portsmouth, and the Gosport Lifeboat rushed to the scene alongside paramedics and Hampshire Police.

Body Discovered, No Suspicious Circumstances

Gosport Police confirmed officers arrived shortly after and found the body of a 64-year-old man in the water. A spokesman said:

“We were called at 10.09am following the discovery of the body. The death is not being treated as suspicious. The man’s family has been informed. A file will be prepared for the coroner in due course.”

Road Closure During Recovery

Haslar Road, including the bridge, was closed while emergency teams recovered the body. A Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and ambulance crew were also on site assisting.

The investigation remains ongoing as the community reels from the shock.
