Tragedy at Gosport Marina: Body of 64-Year-Old Man Found in Water

Emergency Called to Haslar Marina

At 10am on Monday, HM Coastguard received a 999 call reporting an incident at Haslar Marina on Haslar Road, Gosport. Rescue crews from Hillhead, portsmouth/" title="Portsmouth" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Portsmouth, and the Gosport Lifeboat rushed to the scene alongside paramedics and Hampshire Police.

Body Discovered, No Suspicious Circumstances

Gosport Police confirmed officers arrived shortly after and found the body of a 64-year-old man in the water. A spokesman said:

“We were called at 10.09am following the discovery of the body. The death is not being treated as suspicious. The man’s family has been informed. A file will be prepared for the coroner in due course.”

Road Closure During Recovery

Haslar Road, including the bridge, was closed while emergency teams recovered the body. A Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and ambulance crew were also on site assisting.

The investigation remains ongoing as the community reels from the shock.
