Police Crackdown on Anti-Social Driving Hits Greenhithe and Bluewater

Police are stepping up patrols in Greenhithe and Bluewater from Friday, June 10 to Sunday, June 12. The blitz targets those using vehicles to cause chaos in the area.

A tough Section 34 dispersal order will be in place to stop large groups gathering and sparking anti-social behaviour.

“We constantly work hard to tackle anti-social behaviour, which is often caused by a minority but can have an adverse effect on a whole community,” said Inspector Trevor Jenner of the North Kent Community Safety Unit.

“Our action this weekend will make sure no anti-social behaviour occurs and that locals, workers, and visitors aren’t disrupted.”

“While we want people to enjoy their weekends, anti-social driving and noisy revving can wreck the community’s peace. We’ll take strong action, including vehicle seizures if needed.”

Veteran PCSO Honoured for Helping Armed Forces Community

PCSO Adrian Butterworth, a former Royal Artillery soldier, has been recognised for his dedication to veterans in Kent. He serves as the Armed Forces champion for Kent Police.

  • Adrian regularly attends coffee mornings for veterans organised by Age Concern in Margate.
  • He educates them on scams targeting older people and raises awareness about community issues.
  • He’s active at events like Armed Forces Day and Remembrance Sunday in Thanet.
  • Last year, he led a volunteer group to clean up Margate’s War Memorial ahead of Armistice Day.

“I had no idea I was getting an award – it came as a total surprise!” said PCSO Butterworth.

“Any calls to the control room about anyone who has served in the forces get flagged to me. I meet with veterans – young or old, victim or perpetrator – over a cup of tea and a chat.”

“If they need support for PTSD, mental health, housing, or job issues, I’ll help. They say a problem shared is a problem halved.”

Police Commend PCSO’s Unique Role in Supporting Veterans

Inspector Ian Swallow praises Adrian’s work.

“PCSO Butterworth uses his personal military experience to connect with those in need. Veterans often want to speak to someone who understands their perspective.”

“He helps them report crimes and, if it’s not a police matter, works with partner agencies to get vets the support they deserve.”

Adrian received his award at the Kent and Medway Civilian Military Partnership Conference in Folkestone on June 7. The honour was presented by Lady Colgrain, Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Kent.
