Two Dead After Tragic Lake Boat Capsize
Two people have died and a third is fighting for life after a boat capsized on a lake on June 8, 2022. The victims, believed to be a man in his 40s and a woman in her 60s, were recovered from the water. No other boats were involved in the shocking incident.
Third Victim Critical in Hospital
A woman in her 50s remains in critical condition at Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital. Police are still awaiting formal identification of the deceased while the investigation unfolds.
Police Launch Complex Investigation
Devon & Cornwall Police are working closely with the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) and HM Coroner. Superintendent Toby Davies said:
“This has been a tragic incident in which two people have lost their lives. We continue to provide support to all of the families involved by deploying specialist family liaison officers. Our thoughts are with those families during this difficult time.”
“Parallel investigations will examine the circumstances surrounding the ordeal and explore how to prevent similar tragedies in future. Liaison with HM Coroner is ongoing and will continue into next week.”
