Working with Border Force, a number of parcels containing a combined total of around four kilos of cannabis were recovered in December 2022. As part of the investigation, a 40-year-old woman from Margate was arrested on Thursday 5 January 2023 on suspicion of importing a controlled drug and possessing drugs with intent to supply. A property in the town was searched the same day, resulting in officers seizing boxes and bags filled with cannabis. An estimated two kilos of the class B drug was recovered. Sealable plastic bags and other items believed to be linked to drug dealing were also found. The woman has been bailed until a date in April pending further enquiries. Detective Sergeant Vanessa Law, of East Kent Criminal Investigation Department, said: ‘Kent Police is committed to tackling drug dealing, no matter what methods criminals use to bring illegal substances into the county. ‘Working with partner agencies, we will continue to disrupt drug dealing networks at every opportunity. Anyone involved in the supply of illegal drugs by post, as a dealer, user or who assists in the process in any way, should know they face arrest, prosecution and a possible custodial sentence.
