EV Boom Sparks Infrastructure Push

Gosport has seen a whopping 600% surge in electric vehicle ownership over the last five years. By 2030, the borough expects more than 14,000 EVs on the road. The council is moving fast to make sure its charging network can keep pace.

“I’m delighted we’re introducing new charge points to our car parks,” said Council Leader Cllr Peter Chegwyn. “This will support the growing number of electric vehicles in the borough and encourage more people to go green. It’s a win for everyone, reducing pollution and helping our community.”

Zero Cost, Full Coverage: Liberty Charge Takes the Wheel

Liberty Charge is footing the bill and managing the new stations—no taxpayer dime needed. The company will own and operate the points through a partnership with Virgin Media O2, handling all upkeep while residents enjoy hassle-free charging.

Neil Isaacson, CEO of Liberty Charge, commented: “We’re proud to back Gosport’s clean air goals with zero cost to taxpayers. Working with councils across the UK, we’re building a nationwide EV charging network accessible to everyone.”

This bold move supports Gosport’s plan to hit net zero carbon emissions by 2050 and gears up for the 2030 ban on diesel and petrol car sales. Plug in today, charge up for tomorrow!
