The Ministry of Defence, with profound sadness, has confirmed the death of Major Kevin McCool, who passed away while off-duty in Kenya on 29 November 2023.

Born on 16 November 1991, Major Kevin McCool had a remarkable journey in the British Armed Forces. He was commissioned from Sandhurst on 9 August 2014 and quickly distinguished himself as an exceptional officer. His military career saw him deployed across various global locations, including Europe, the Middle East, the Falklands, and Africa.
A Legacy of Excellence and Commitment
Major McCool was renowned for his extraordinary operational record, physical fitness, and endurance. His ability to excel in the military’s most challenging courses and his leadership qualities were widely acknowledged and celebrated. His infectious enthusiasm, coupled with a mischievous yet professional demeanour, earned him the unwavering loyalty of those he led, from his Catterick Platoon recruits to his Rifle Company.

A devoted family man, Major McCool is survived by his loving parents, Joseph and Joan, along with his siblings Fergal, Brendan, May, Alice, and Margaret. His family’s loss echoes deeply in the hearts of all who knew him.
