Man Arrested Over Rape at Exclusive Soho Spot Released on Bail
A 34-year-old man arrested over a suspected rape at the famous Groucho Club in Soho has been released on bail until late February, police confirmed.
Swanky Groucho Club’s Licence Suspended
The arrest follows claims a woman was attacked at the celeb-favourite venue in November. Police detained the suspect in Hertfordshire last Saturday. The high-profile club’s licence was swiftly suspended last week by Westminster Council at the Met’s request amid concerns over serious criminal activity and licence breaches. The suspension could last up to 28 days until a full hearing.
The Groucho Club has cooperated fully, accepted the decision, and Scotland Yard insists there’s no sign staff were involved in the alleged attack.
Iconic Celeb Hangout Under Scrutiny
The Groucho Club is known as a creative private members’ haven, dating back decades as a cool alternative to stiff gentlemen’s clubs. Its members include well-known figures from the arts and entertainment world, drawn to its “maverick spirit.”
Investigation Active – Police Call for Witnesses
Police are continuing their probe to uncover all the facts surrounding the disturbing incident. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.
“The 34-year-old man arrested on suspicion of rape on 30 November has been bailed until late February,” a Scotland Yard spokesperson said.
This case has sparked fierce debate about safety at elite venues and the need for strict licensing rules.
