Teen dies after high-speed crash on A419 in Swindon following police chase

Tragic crash kills teenager at Swindon junction

A teenage boy has died in a horror smash on the A419 near Swindon last night (2 January). The fatal collision happened shortly before 11pm at the junction of the A419 and M4. A Vauxhall Astra slammed into the roundabout, killing the teen at the scene. Formal ID has not yet been confirmed.

Three other passengers in their 20s escaped with minor injuries but have been arrested by Wiltshire Police.

Arrests made after police pursuit ends in tragedy

Police say the crash followed a pursuit. A man in his 20s faces charges of causing death by dangerous driving. Two women, also in their 20s, are held on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent. All three remain in custody.

Wiltshire Police have handed the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) to investigate the circumstances around the chase and crash.

Road closures disrupt traffic

The A419 southbound from Commonhead roundabout to the M4, plus the M4 eastbound exit slip at J15, are closed for the investigation. Drivers are urged to find alternative routes as closures may last most of the day.

Witnesses urged to come forward

Police want anyone who saw the crash or has dashcam footage to get in touch. Contact [email protected] with any information.
