Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit is actively investigating a devastating incident that unfolded yesterday, resulting in the deaths of a 56-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man.
The sequence of events began around 5.45 pm when officers responded to a reported road traffic collision involving a Lexus vehicle on the A340 Tidmarsh Road at the junction with Flower’s Hill. Tragically, within the vehicle, the woman was found to have sustained a fatal stab wound. Despite receiving immediate medical attention, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
In a distressing turn of events, at approximately 6.25 pm authorities were called to a casualty on the railway track near Pangbourne. An 18-year-old man was found deceased at the scene. While the victims have not been formally identified, their next of kin have been informed, and specially trained officers are providing support.
Detective Superintendent Kevin Brown, Head of the Major Crime Unit, expressed condolences on behalf of the force and emphasised the early stages of this complex investigation. Brown stated, “We are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with either death. We are treating the two deaths as linked, keeping an open mind about the circumstances. There is no wider threat to the public.”
