Burglars Smash Back Door in Margate Theft

Police are hunting witnesses after a burglary in Margate saw thieves smash a back door and break into a home on Maynard Avenue.

Thieves Swipe Cash and Rare Chilean Notes

The break-in happened between Tuesday, April 16 and Wednesday, April 17, 2019. Officers say the crooks made off with cash – including a batch of old Chilean 100 Peso notes. These bills are no longer legal tender, making them easy to spot if anyone tries to cash them in.

Can You Help Police Track Down the Stolen Chilean Pesos?

“The victim has reported that a quantity of money was stolen but also a quantity of Chilean 100 Peso notes. These are no longer legal tender and therefore could be identifiable if someone were to exchange them for sterling,” said Police Constable Mark Huttley.

“I would urge anyone who may have been offered the notes to get in touch.”
