M4 Shut After Single-Car Crash in Wiltshire
A single-car crash has slammed the M4 westbound in Wiltshire shut between junction 16 (Swindon) and junction 17 (Chippenham).
Emergency crews, including Wiltshire Police and National Highways Traffic Officers, rushed to the scene after the car left the carriageway, causing major disruption.
Long Delays Expected – Diversions in Place
Drivers face heavy delays and are urged to plan alternate routes now. Diversions are set up to steer traffic clear of the crash site and keep the queues moving.
Diversions for Tall and Standard Vehicles
- For vehicles over 14 feet 3 inches: Exit at junction 16, head along the A3102 towards Calne, then take the A4 westbound to the A350 Chequers Roundabout, rejoining the M4 at junction 17. Look out for the solid diamond diversion signs.
- For vehicles under 14 feet 3 inches: Exit at junction 16, follow the A3102 towards Royal Wootton Bassett, then take the B4042 through Malmesbury before rejoining the M4 at junction 17.
