Bexleyheath Police Officer Hit by Car During Chase Recovering Well

A Metropolitan Police officer who was hit by a car during a foot chase in Bexleyheath is now recovering, with injuries confirmed to be non-life-threatening or life-changing.

Incident Details

The officer was struck by a car shortly after 11:59 AM on Thursday, February 13, near Mayplace Road West, while pursuing a suspect on foot.

Police had initially been called to the scene following concerns for the safety of a woman who was with a man.

During the chase, the officer was involved in a collision with a vehicle that was not connected to the incident.

Arrest Made at the Scene

A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of domestic common assault. Authorities have not yet released further details about the suspect or the nature of the initial police callout.

Met Police Statement

Providing an update on the officer’s condition, a Met Police spokesperson said:

*”Yesterday, one of our officers was taken to hospital following a collision in Bexleyheath that occurred during a foot pursuit.

This officer sustained injuries confirmed to be non-life-threatening or changing.

We wish our colleague a swift recovery.”*

Road Closure and Investigation

The road was cordoned off for several hours as emergency services responded to the incident. An investigation into the circumstances of the collision remains ongoing.
