A woman has tragically died after escaping a house fire in Fulham, West London, on Friday morning (June 27).

Emergency services rushed to the blaze on Marinefield Road in Sands End shortly before 9.10am, after receiving reports of a fire tearing through a three-room flat near Langford Primary School.

According to the London Fire Brigade, two engines and around 10 firefighters attended the scene. While the woman managed to flee the burning property before fire crews arrived, she was later pronounced dead in hospital.

“Part of a three-roomed flat was damaged by the fire. One woman left the property before crews arrived and was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service. Sadly, she later died at hospital,” the LFB confirmed in a statement.

The flat was reportedly alight for more than an hour, and the structure sustained significant damage. The exact nature of the woman’s injuries has not been disclosed, and her identity has not yet been publicly confirmed.

Cause Under Investigation

The Metropolitan Police and specialist fire investigators from the LFB have now launched a joint investigation to determine the cause of the blaze. Officers have confirmed that a cordon was put in place at the scene, and inquiries remain ongoing.

The fire is the latest in a string of deadly incidents across London in recent weeks, prompting renewed calls for fire safety vigilance during the hot summer period.
