Ferry Held in Dover for Over 10 Hours as Murder Suspect Nabbed in Police Operation

A DFDS ferry was stuck in Dover port for more than 10 hours today after police launched a dramatic operation to arrest a man linked to a murder investigation. The vessel had just left for France when officers boarded to detain the suspect.

Police Act Amid Murder Probe

The arrest comes as part of the ongoing inquiry into the fatal stabbing of Tyler Haywood, 26, outside a Chingford Wetherspoon pub earlier this week. Since Sunday, the Metropolitan Police have been conducting extensive enquiries, leading to searches at Dover port before the ferry was held.

“Since Sunday we have been making extensive enquiries and this resulted in searches being carried out at the Port of Dover today. I’d like to thank Kent Police and other agencies for their support as we carried out these checks, as well as members of the public who were disrupted while this vital operation took place,” a police spokesperson said.

Ferry Passengers Left Stranded

Passengers expressed frustration and confusion over the mysterious delay. Many took to social media, describing the scene as “surreal.” One traveller posted: “We’ve been stuck on this ferry since early morning. No one told us what’s happening — just police everywhere.”

DFDS released a brief statement confirming the incident:

“One of our vessels was delayed at Dover earlier today due to a police-led incident. The situation has now been resolved and services are expected to resume shortly. We apologise to our passengers for the inconvenience caused.”

Police Continue Appeal for Information

The Metropolitan Police are still hunting for more information related to Tyler Haywood’s murder. No further arrests have been made since the ferry incident.
