Police hunt Knife Wielding Robber after Shop Hold up in Portsmouth

Police are investigating a knifepoint robbery, which happened at the Spar shop in St Mary’s Road, this morning (Nov 30) A man entered the store at about 8.10am. He waited until shoppers had left and then approached the counter and demanded money from two store assistants. He made off with about £50 from the till. He was wearing a hoody and a balaclava and was seen to get into a black car, which was parked in Cuthbert Road. He then drove off, driving the wrong way in Cuthbert Road. Detective Sergeant Rich Gibson said: “Fortunately this type of robbery is not common and the two stores assistants were not injured, however we take this sort of incident extremely seriously. “We have got an increased police presence in the area today, conducting enquiries, however we would urge anyone who witnessed the incident, or saw a car being driven the wrong way along Cuthbert Road this morning, to call us”.
