Detectives have released the image and identity of a young man murdered in South Hampstead. Abdullahi Hassan, 20, was stabbed to death late on Thursday, 25 July.

Two Men Stabbed at Ainsworth House

Police rushed to Ainsworth House, Boundary Road, NW8, at 11.45pm after reports of a stabbing. Abdullahi and another 22-year-old man were found with serious stab wounds. Both were taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service. Sadly, Abdullahi died shortly after midnight. The second man remains in serious but stable condition.

A post-mortem confirmed Abdullahi died from a stab wound to the chest. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Related Stabbing Incident in Lancefield Street

Just after midnight on 26 July, police were called to Lancefield Street, W10, where a 20-year-old man was found with a stab wound to the leg. He was hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers are investigating any links between this stabbing and Abdullahi’s murder.

Earlier Fight at South Hampstead Station

Five hours before the stabbing, around 5pm on 25 July, a fight broke out at the entrance of South Hampstead Rail Station on Loudon Road. Several men were involved, but no serious injuries were reported.

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Stancombe of the Met’s Specialist Crime team said:

“We hope releasing Abdullahi’s image will jog someone’s memory. We want to hear from anyone who saw him or his attackers. We’re especially interested in the earlier fight at South Hampstead station – during rush hour and on the hottest day of the year.”

“If you saw or heard anything, please come forward. We promise to handle your information with confidence and sensitivity. Your help is vital to bring justice to Abdullahi’s grieving family.”
