Hampton Gun Attack: Two Jailed for 21 Years Over Taxi Shooting
Two 19-year-olds have been slammed with hefty prison sentences after a shocking daylight gun attack in a busy Isleworth station car park. Mohammed Ahmed from Hampton and Mosaab Berrada, held at HMP Wormwood Scrubs, were both convicted of attempted murder and other serious offences at Isleworth Crown Court.
Gunfire Shatters Taxi Windows
On 17 December 2018, the victim, a 19-year-old man, and a companion were waiting for a taxi outside Isleworth station. Trouble sparked when Junior Chartsrivisej, 18, was caught arguing near the ticket machine. As the taxi pulled away, Ahmed brandished a handgun, firing twice at close range through the rear side windows.
The shots just missed the two inside. The taxi sped off to safety, with shattered glass falling out moments later. Ahmed and Berrada fled on bikes but were swiftly identified via CCTV and arrested.
Weapons Linked and Sentences Handed Down
- Ahmed was convicted of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, and attempted murder.
- Berrada was found guilty of firearm and ammunition possession and also pleaded guilty to drug supply intent.
- Junior Chartsrivisej received a 13-year sentence for attempted grievous bodily harm.
Ahmed and Berrada each got 21 years, with minimum terms of 14 and 15 years respectively before possible parole.
Police found three hidden firearms in Berrada’s home, including the gun used in the attack. Forensics confirmed Berrada handed the weapon to Ahmed prior to the shooting.
Police Condemn Brazen Daylight Attack
“This was a shockingly brazen incident,” said Detective Superintendent Gary Richardson. “Firing a lethal weapon in broad daylight in a busy station car park put countless lives at risk. Ahmed has shown no remorse. This sentence should deter anyone thinking of carrying guns or committing such violence.”
Metropolitan Police Chief Inspector Richard Watkinson added, “The Met will continue working with partners to drive violence off our streets. This case caused fear in the community, so it’s encouraging to see these lengthy jail terms. We are committed to making Hounslow’s streets safer.”
