Man Faces Court Over Death Linked to 2016 Clapham Stabbing
Tyrese Osei-Kofi Charged Over Long-Lasting Impact of Fatal Stab Attack
Tyrese Osei-Kofi, 24, from East Dulwich, south-east London, has appeared at the Old Bailey over charges connected to the death of Jamel Boyce. Boyce was stabbed outside a Sainsbury’s in Clapham back in October 2016. Though he survived the initial attack, he died six years later as a result of the injuries.
Victim Left Blind, Paralyzed After Attack
The court learned that Boyce suffered a cardiac arrest triggered by the stabbing. This caused severe brain damage, leaving him blind, paralyzed, and unable to communicate. He spent years in care before passing away in February 2022, aged just 22.
Prisoner in Grey Uniform Remanded Ahead of Trial
A post-mortem confirmed Boyce’s death was caused by a penetrating chest injury. During a short hearing, Osei-Kofi did not enter a plea. Judge Richard Marks KC remanded him in custody. His next court date is set for March 26, with a provisional trial booked for October 28.
