Man Jailed After Horrific Butter Knife Attack in Leicester

A brutal attack shook a quiet Leicester home last July. Arfan Hussein, 31, stormed into the bedroom of a woman in her 30s in Aylestone and launched a terrifying assault with a butter knife.

Chilling Attack Inside Victim’s Home

On the afternoon of Wednesday 14 July, Hussein and two accomplices burst into the victim’s room. Hussein tried stabbing her in the head with a butter knife. A friend inside the house grabbed Hussein, trying to stop him. Furious, Hussein kicked, stamped, and punched the woman instead.

A neighbour hearing the commotion called the police. When officers arrived, Hussein fled the scene. Meanwhile, the terrified victim escaped by climbing out onto the roof.

Terrifying Injuries and Ongoing Battle

The victim sustained horrific injuries, including:

  • Fractured eye socket and nose
  • Broken wrist, thumb, and ribs
  • Black eyes and cuts to the head
  • Severe ear and hand lacerations
  • Corneal injury

She’s had titanium plates fitted to her face and faces regular surgery for life. Nerve damage left her with facial numbness and limited finger movement. Further surgeries are pending.

Justice Served: Hussein Sentenced to Eight Years

Hussein was arrested the same day. Denying all charges at first, he was found guilty of grievous bodily harm with intent following a trial at Leicester Crown Court last week. On 3 March, the judge handed down an eight-year prison sentence.

“This was a horrendous attack… the victim was forced to climb onto the roof to escape. Hussein tried to dodge responsibility, but justice has been served,” said Detective Constable Stephen Williams.

“The victim has shown incredible bravery throughout this ordeal and I hope this conviction helps her as she continues to heal and move on.”
