BMW Brawl Brutality: Three Thugs Jailed After Savage Steering Wheel Attack
Three Newham men have been locked up for a vicious, premeditated attack caught on dash cam. Mujahid Ali, Hamza Wahid, and Mohamed Mohamed, all 25, brutally bashed a 20-year-old victim with a steering wheel lock after chasing him down West Road, E15.
Steering Lock Swing and Skull Crushing Assault
On 8 September 2021, the victim was strolling along when Mohamed pulled up in his BMW. Wahid, already acting as lookout, leapt out and punched the victim hard in the face. Meanwhile, Ali armed himself with a steering wheel lock and joined the chase. The victim tried to hide in a nearby garage, but Ali and Wahid found him and repeatedly smashed his head with the weapon.
After the savage attack, the pair jumped back in the BMW and Mohamed sped off towards Stratford Road, leaving the injured victim bleeding and desperate for help. Thankfully, garage staff came to his aid before police patrols found him covered in blood and vomiting, with fractured jawbones requiring emergency surgery with metal plates and screws.
Dash Cam Evidence Shows Callous Planning and Boasting
Officers seized Mohamed’s BMW and watched chilling dash cam footage of the trio plotting the assault and laughing about it afterwards. Ali can be heard threatening to “kick his face in” and telling Mohamed to “drive him over” if the victim ran away.
After the attack, Ali and Wahid boast:
- “I crushed his skull, he is bleeding.”
- “I licked him a good four times with that thing.”
- “He was crying for his life, begging.”
- “If he didn’t say sorry, I would’ve killed him.”
Justice Served: Sentences Locked In
Mujahid Ali and Mohamed Mohamed were sentenced to four years and six months each. Hamza Wahid got four years behind bars, after pleading guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 20 May.
“This was a brutal, pre-mediated attack which left the victim seriously injured requiring emergency surgery,” said Detective Constable Andy Tucker. “The three drove off laughing while their victim lay bleeding on the street. They showed zero remorse.”
“We will not tolerate violence and we will do everything in our power to put violent individuals like Ali, Wahid and Mohamed behind bars.”
